Art Attack Blog, Week 5, term 3

WHAT?


For art attack my goal was to produce a piece of art related to our local landscape using either paint, water colour or pastel.



With Mr Forman I learned about colour and complementary colours.

    
so what
  • I included trees river bird mountains.
  • i was proud of my tree.


NOW WHAT?
  • I would like to get better at my bird and river. I just need to practise some more.

My learning Goals for Term 3



What?

I have been identifying my literacy goals for the start of term 3
My reading teacher is Mr Rule.
My writing teacher is Mr Rule.

So What?

My handwriting goal is to flick and link my letters
My spelling goal is to complete list 8 and get all the words all right

My writing goals are: to write about a moment in time using a picture prompt



My reading goal is to use several pieces of information to make inferences (on information not directly in the text).

My blog goals are to: to use a variety of ways to show my learning (text, photos/images, video)









WHAT?
IHBL:
        to combine different movements into a dance routine to Treasure by Bruno Mars
        to combine different cha cha moves into a dance routine to can’t stop the felling by justin timberlake


         
So What?


        I really enjoyed dancing with Dean and learning how to dance.
        My favourite movement / dance was Charleston
    What I enjoyed most about Dean’s teaching was the moves
 on Friday evening we had a lot of fun


Now what?


        I would like to do further dance lessons
        I would like to learn jazz

term 2 hilights


things i have enjoyed this term are: -maths. in maths i have been learning my 6 times tables i learnt my 6 x tables in a cool way where you need to put your tens in the tens column and the ones in the ones columns.

mr forman tought us really well and now i understand how to do it.

i now want to try and do the 9 times tables.

Mathematics


What? 
I have been learning to solve addition problems by first jumping by a tidy number then jumping back.

So What?
I have learned what a tidy number is and how to use them.  A tidy nimber is a number with a zero at the end.

Now What?
My next step is to use this strategy with larger numbers.


Writing



What?I am learning how to write an information report.

So What? I know an information report needs facts, you organise them into paragraphs, you need a heading, you can use pictures /photos.

Now what? I want to learn how to organise my facts into paragraphs.


Reading 2017



What is my learning goal? My goal is to get my activities all done.

What have I learned? That when you get distracted you don't get all your work done.

What is my next step? To get all my tasks done in a week and not get distracted.

Te Reo Maori

What? We have been learning language about Ko Au which means Me Myself and I.


So what? Something I have learnt to say is E hia o tau which means how old are you and I answer with E waru (I am 8).



Now what? My next learning step is ask and answer questions confidently in Maori.

ANZAC Blog 1



What?  I am learning about Anzac Day as it is an important part of our learning about ‘Being a New Zealander’

So What?
Two things I know: Anzac Day is the 25th of April.
Poppies grew in Flander's Fields

Two things I would like to know: One of the sargent's names. Why did they start the war?

Two things I have learned: Mrs McLeod's grandad went to the war.
That there are medals in the war.

Now What?

I would like to learn more about the gallipoli because it sounds really interesting

What?
I am learning how to do a cloze activity to help me with my reading
Being able to make logical predictions about what word would fit correctly into a sentence is a successful reader strategy.

So What?
We use the following procedures:
  1. Read the whole text so that we can get an overall picture of the text.
  2. Re-read the text and think of words that would fit into the gaps. Write them down
  3. Look at the word list for this activity and see if I am correct / make changes



P = I need a little help. I prefer to look at the word list rather than have a go to predict the missing words. I have some confidence
